Moving On

Project Description
My mother recently left the country to go take care of my grandma, leaving me to watch over her items .This has me thinking about what it takes to carry on the family business, what I actually want to do with my life and about life in general. It would be great if my mom was over there for a fun-loving visit, but my grandma was sick and that’s why she’s there. Processing these things has been tough and I explore it through the imagery of where my mother sells African arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In this project I focused a lot on capturing the colors and vastness of the amount of Items she has. I also wanted the piece to be calming and contemplative, holding on shots longer than normal , and choosing a calming score to accompany it.

Experimental Film | Using the Insta 360 X4 I practiced filming different angles. This was my first attempt at using a 360 camara. I also experimented with the editing using the Insta 360 non linear editor. I hope to film more things with the 360 camera in the future and play around more in the editor as well.

Editing Project | Visual Remix for 125 BPM Tracks This project was an experimental editing assignment where I repurposed old Popeye the Sailor clips into a layered, rhythmic visual loop. I applied techniques such as reversing, color regrading, opacity blending, and creative masking to transform the footage into a dynamic, looping background that can visually complement any track at 125 BPM. While the edit is designed to stand alone or serve as ambient visuals particularly for live DJ sets or installations. I chose to sync it with “Pump Up the Jam” by Technotronic to showcase how the visuals can amplify a track’s energy.

Escape(Original)

Project Description
Short Narrative Film – For this class project, I conceptualized, shot, and edited a short narrative film that highlights my feeling of being trapped by my town. All scenes were filmed by me in various locations throughout Albuquerque using using a Blackmagic pro 6k camera. To enhance the narrative, I wrote and voiced over a short poem that serves as the backbone of the film, blending my personal reflections with the visuals. The project explores the feeling of being trapped in a place i cant escape, and demonstrates my ability to integrate written word with visual storytelling to evoke emotion and atmosphere.
